In between all my weddings I found myself being interviewed on BBC Radio Leeds! We were discussing how much should be given as a gift!
My advise for anyone who finds them wondering what is the correct amount ;
Give what you feel comfortable with. If you are questioning if you have been mean, you probably have.
Spend what you would spend on a gift.
If you want to buy a gift, then do! It is still ok.
Remember it will only be you and the bride and groom who will know how much you have given. If things are difficult for you at the moment don’t be afraid to say ! You can always offer to take them out after the wedding or invite them for Sunday dinner when things get better.
Again, a huge thanks to you both for your advice and for simply thinking of everything, and the gaps in between.
Libby & Paul.
I received this message with a beautiful box of chocolates – A very special thank you –
Thank you for all your help towards making our wedding a very special occasion. We really appreciated your efforts moving the flowers and making the day flow smoothly
Helen and Matthew Tilley
Why so special ? Because she wasn’t a bride of mine – just did it because the florist had boobed and I didn’t like seeing a bride disappointed ! (why? because I can !)
I think I will work backwards over the last few weeks.
This weekend we had two weddings to oversee, starting with Libby and Paul married at Newburgh Priory. Newburgh Priory has the most amazing setting next to a lake – on the hills you can see the famous white horse.
Libby and Paul where married in the house itself which is crammed full of history – if you have never seen it let me assure you it is amazing.
The wedding breakfast was then held in part of the main house that was damaged by fire and just part of the outside walls remain, the roof has gone but worry not they were in a marquee with clear sides and top to lets of light in.
It was a truly amazing day – Congratulations Libby and Paul Meigh
The second wedding overseen by myself on Saturday, was of Carleen and Andrew Booth, who were married at Goldsborough Church.
The drinks reception was held in the family grounds of Mr and Mrs Booth snr. It was a beautiful afternoon and lots of Pink Champagne went down very well.
A marquee was the setting for the wedding breakfast and followed by lots of dancing and drinking. A pork pie made an amazing wedding cake and went down really well with a huge amount of cheese and biscuits.
I made the wonderful (even though I say so myself) seating plan.
A wonderful time was had by all – I believe the last guests left sometime after 3am (phew)
Saturday 30 August sees the wedding of Carleen and Andrew and Libby and Paul.
Carleen and Andrew are getting married in a marquee in the grounds of Andrews family home. I have known Andrew for many years and it is a privilege to be overseeing his big day.
Libby and Paul are getting married at Newburgh Priory in a beautiful marquee in the grounds of this fabulous estate. Lucy is looking after Libby and Paul and she is looking forward to it very much. We have had a couple of last minute gliches but we soon smoothed things out !
We are all very excited for this fabulous weekend 🙂
As you can see it looks stunning! The basket on the back is used for cards – so double purpose ! The whole lot for £50 – it’s a steal !
I hope you love it as much as I do ! 🙂
It has been a fantastic Bank Holiday – it started on Thursday with the wedding of Sarah Ninnes marrying Oliver Turner at the prestigious Rudding Park Hotel. Their ceremony was in the regal library .
The cream stretch covers with ivory organza looked so elegant, finished off with Gyp in each chair! A beautiful classy look !
Today we have had our update with the lovely Elizabeth who is getting married at the stunning Newburgh Priory next month. My colleague Lucy will be looking after them on their special day. I don’t know who is more excited. the bride or the wedding Hostess!
Congratulations to Yvette and James Boland who had a lovely woodland theme at Chevin Country Park Hotel today. Covers in ivory with sage green and lace sashes . Added finishing touches gorgeous little bunches of gyp with lavender – very pretty.
Congratulations to Fran and Dave Metcalfe married yesterday at Rudding park Hotel – They chose our brand new silver taffeta on lovely Loose covers, Flowers by Anna at Arcadian Designs – stunning as usual.
Its been a funny week this week. I have had lots to do, lots of brides to meet and just a couple of events! Sometimes this job is very stressful and this week I feel stressed – and I cant really cant say why!
Any way below is a beautiful photo of the lovely William and Victoria’s Wine Bar all dressed for a lovely intimate wedding for 35
Well after the excitement of the TDF and The Great Yorkshire show it is back to work!
I started this week on Friday at The Bridge Inn- Congratulations to Kate 🙂
Next stop The Old Swan Hotel – a beautiful day for an outside ceremony !
Well it has been a mammoth clean up this week (still a bit to do!)
The photos are here now to share with you ! Photos by my friend Ozzy Ozkan! Lets Start with Ripley Castle. Gorgeous in Lemon and Silver, ivory covers and an ivory table swag.
Today was the start of my busy weekend ! Up at 5 am making hand made table numbers – followed by a trip to the Hilton at York setting up 120 covers for a dinner there. Back home shopping for flowers – stationery finished – a few more bits and bobs before bed ! phew !
I have a really busy weekend ahead – 4 weddings and a large party! So busy busy busy ! I am making a table plan using my new bike and table numbers and table names – so lots of gluing and sticking ! Watch out for photos of the results next week 🙂
My car at last is sorted but it has left me with a huge bill – no holiday for me then !
Thank goodness I don’t have a wedding today! I have smashed one of my windows (that was fun ) The key fob works in the ignition – so I could drive it away but I cant lock it ! I have been able to collect the chair covers from the Sun Pavilion – so I can get on and wash them.
Well I have to say today I have been tested to the limit – let me explain; the day started well, I went to Wood Hall Hotel to set up for the ceremony of Christina Barber, it looked delightful – photos to follow. Then on to the Sun Pavilion to finish setting up the wedding for Sarah and Mathew- which was very pretty – they got married outside 🙂
Back to my car to return to Wood Hall to set out my table centres and Swag the top table; Disaster I couldn’t get back into my car !!! I borrowed my step fathers car, went to buy more material for the table swag (as it was locked in my car) Drove rather fast back to Wood Hall to get there and put the Swag on with 30 seconds to spare ! But I did it !!!!
Now the car…………………………………………
